Derbyshire Newbie in need of advice

Hi all,

Just a quick insight to my situation at the minute. Just purchased my little clio, had it for a couple of weeks now. Its a 2002 cliosport 172, completly standard with 66 thou on the clock. On first impressions couldn't believe how quick it was or how good the handling was! but after afew weeks and a few hundred miles i've been getting a few starting issues. When on cold start up after turning the engine on, the car dies virtually straight away, but on the second attempt its sound. This has happend 5 or 6 times now and is getting more frequent if anything:S, any advice would be greatly appreciated.

could be a number of things. possibbly the coil pack?

When you say it dies, does it actually start and turn over before spluttering and stopping? Or does it just not turn over?

It does turn over then fire up but as soon as it does and i release the key it dies, then immediatly on 2nd attempt it starts ok. Happend again this afternoon, gave it a quick blip of throttle on 2nd try and it seemed to help it?

Id get it booked into a garage. In terms of local specialists there isnt really much in the Derby area, our nearest specialists are BTMPerformance in Birmingham or Birchdown in Cheshire if you fancy a trip. I know Prima are based in Notts but no idea if they do normal garage work as opposed to just tuning.

Id avoid a main dealer with a problem like this!

Thanks for the advice folks!! I live in ilkeston mate, cheers for the offer of having a look at it gray, i'll bare that in mind if it gets any worse. Funily enough it hasn't done it again since! Hoping its just one of these tempramental french things I'll keep ya posted if it develops anymore. Cheers.

I reckon change fuel relay thats what mine was a little while ago, cheap potential fix. Im also not too far away...

I'm new to ClioSport but i've been working on these cars for 10years now so don't let that put you off.
