Recently picked up a nearly new car, but living in a flat makes it challenging (impossible) to clean it myself.
Been looking at some proper detailing companies (not your corner hand car wash places) for a proper clean/detailpolish etc.
Anyone used any before in the London area? (Mobile or otherwise) Or have any horror tales/recommendations?

Any recommendations for a good starter kit please guys? I’m not looking to be a detailer, but keen to get a decent base kit to take best care of the car. I’m a complete beginner!

Some shots from the limited edition Rapid Detailer. Feel like drinking this stuff.

I have one of my CS famous detailing write ups coming soon!

You could look up a company called Topaz, they have a YouTube channel too. They have 2 bases one in London and another in Bristol I believe. By their videos they do amazing work.

Easily a couple of weeks before performance drops in my experience!

It helps that it's one of the easiest to apply spray products I've used, most smear to a degree but this just seems to flash off, brilliant stuff.

Anyone ever experienced a weird spotting/streaking issue after using Gyeon Wetcoat?

Been using it for years and this is the first time I've ever had it happen.

Applied as I've always done and never let it dry or sit for too long.

Had to go over the whole car with a hand polish to remove the marks (BMW Mineral Grey)

I can only think it was the age of it, was the last bit in the bottle which is probably a year old.

Sorted a friend's daily out yesterday.

Gave it a wash as it was absolutely caked in giant bird crap about a month ago which he'd left on FAR too long (some on the roof had crazed/eaten the paint!!).. When the paint was wet, we could see some blue/yellow sparkles until it dries out and it went back to looking dull as fook so I knew it would be a nice rewarding days work.

He lives in the middle of nowhere so it goes thru country lanes everywhere, evidently just uses the hedge to work out where the side of the road is.....

Quick bucket of suds as it was being polished.. tried the menz 3 in 1 but it didn't really do it (no big surprise).

Went for a 3800 menz on a medium pad combo and it looked like this (wing):

One pass on the door and it was looking better

Sun came out and I went round the other side which was much cleaner !

Went round the car and gave this side a second pass, followed by a DA coat of Alchemy Dark Matter, then C2V3 for some protection.

Far from perfect but with the few hours I had, he was over the moon and the thing looked brilliant compared with the state of it when it arrived.

Even suggested he'd buy some shampoo and such to look after it himself in future, rather than the supermarket wash'n'scratch once a quarter.

anyone recommend how to remove if it’s possible scuff marks on the black plastic trim on the inside of the doors

It’s damaged and it’s about 25cm long. It’s about the width of a pencil. Tried one of those sponges yesterday afternoon, went lightly with some Tri Clean and then a bit rougher. Think someone caught the door with some bags about getting in the car. Also I think it’s taken the coating of the plastic. Shouldn’t of rubbed it as much. Is it possible to get the trim recoated to whatever it was

Anyone with a Nilfisk, or any other brand for that matter, swapped their standard hose for a rubber one?

Mine's done my head in for years so it's time to upgrade.

Where'd you get yours from?

Yeah i fucked the Karcher tangled mess off a few years ago for their anti tangle one.

So much nicer to use combined with the stubby lance from Autobrite Direct.

Yeh I'd like one of those little lances as well, think I'll leave that until Christmas, be a decent present for my other half to get me I reckon.

With the rubber hoses. There seems to be 2 companies that keep coming up in the discussions on DW. Qwashers and Direct Hoses.net. Big difference in the prices of some of them!

I paid £60 for the Karcher one from CleanStore.co.uk, most places wanted £80+

£30 the stubby lance was.
