Interesting. I've seen a few detailers using it. Didn wonder what it was. So it provides super clean water for hard water areas or similar?

Sounds better than buying a ppp filter thingy! If you dry your car not sure how much need there is. I'd rather blow dry it or take it a quick spin round the block!

Yeah from what I understand is it’s water with absolutely zero alkalinity. Once rinsed you can literally let it dry in the sun and there won’t be any water spotting at all.

I was thinking about getting a container and storing it up in the rafters in the garage to use as a final rinse from a hose. Seems to be cheap enough to use for that purpose.

@Sunglasses_Ron I guess it depends how often you wash/rinse a car/water hardness etc but I've calculated my DI vessel/0ppm water to cost about 2.3p per liter in resin. With an estimated resin change every 18 months.

I love it though, works really well and feels very unnatural to let a wet car dry in the sun.

That's the stuff! Great product, strong as hell so be careful with getting it on your hands and legs if you wear shorts.

This stuff is also mega at getting oil stains off paving

My exhaust needs a polish it's pretty gross.
I have some 12year old Megs NXT polish. Is that ok to use to give it a scrub? Do I need wire wool etc

If it's carbonated you might struggle but wore wool at least with the polish.

Also these from Tesco are epic. A 30 year detailer told me about them... Mix it with water and the NXT.

It's quite a crowded marketplace out there. It would have to compete with wetcoat,TW,Hydro, Infinity Wax, polar seal, etc etc

True. I guess I just want to get my own wet coat out there that I know is a great product, and as with other products, people would like them and recommend them to others etc. I don’t care I don’t do millions of sales a week, because I know every single order has a great product inside

It needs a good topper. Your detailer should be advising personally on this. Ceramic coatings themselves spot badly. They're protecting your paint. The topper is what helps it.

Doubt it sounds like they haven't done what you have paid for difficult to say what they have used I had mine done 3 years ago only with gyeon cancoat and never had any water marks on it ever that's not even a proper ceramic coating so would not expect to have watermarks on full ceramic coating!

Did you get a certificate / warranty or invoice for it?

Yes it's normal to have dust spots when it rains and your car dries because of the nature of the beading it's inevitable you'll be left with these marks. If they're stubborn to remove then that's not normal. They should just rinse off with ease.

I think dust spots is the right word. When cleaning the car they come off easily but everytime it rains the dust spots come back which is super frustrating. Never used to happen before the ceramic coating was apllied and now i really wish i hadn't done it.

Ceramic is a great way to protect your paint. All coatings will have that issue even spray on sealants will leave dust marks behind. The ceramic will be protecting your car through winter and will help protect from bird s**t etc so it's money well spent imo and it makes the whole cleaning process much easier as the dirt just doesn't stick.

If the dust really bothers you then you could always get some sort of pre wash spray like bilt hamber and give it a quick spray and jet wash (cold rinse only) at a local petrol station to get the dust marks off between washes. I should add don't touch the paint in that process just pre wash then jet wash off and drive the car to get the water off. It won't be perfect but if there's a lot of dust it'll certainly be better and it only take 10 minutes.

As Gally said, you need to top the coating with something that is more hydrophobic.

A topper won't stop it from happening if it rains and then dries before you drive the car your going to be left with dust marks no matter what you do imo.

I do recommend using a topper anyway still personally I love Gtechniq C2v3 it's been about a long time but it's pretty cheap now and still does an excellent job. Some detailers would say your taking away from the ceramic by doing this but personally I prefer that extra bit of protection.

Yeah he didn't make himself very clear. Sadly our rain and environment comes with dust especially in the summer. Get a blo dryer if it bother you a lot, will remove the beading before settling.

It does sound like it might be a dust issue where you live. Unfair to blame the coating for beading. It should sheet more than bead though so may be worth looking into a topper that will sheet better than bead. Carpro gliss is like this.

Funny the person above mentions gyeon can coat. It's a topper and a sheeter for the coatings.

Sadly instead of being honest the detailing industry is there to sell products. They should advertise ceramic coating more from a protection point of view rather than pretend the beading and sheeting would last 5 years which it won't. Even if the coating will.

How do you apply it? Is it just the trade version of Polar Seal?

I have literally just done mine… heat will help but I was too lazy to get the heat gun out.

i scrape as much of the foam off as possible with a plastic scraper (old card will do) and then soak in glue and tar remover. Come back in 3 or 4 mins and it drops off. Sometimes have to go over again with a cloth and glue and tar remover.

i clean with a degreaser and leave it plenty of time before putting the new sticky pads on.

Toffee wheel on a drill will get it off. Soak in Tardis/panel wipe for a even easier removal.

Toffee wheel is the quickest way, but don't go too high speed and move around enough to avoid burning paint/melting plastic bumpers. I've learnt this the hard way

Best trim restorer?

Used Autoglym Bumper and Trim gel for years but sick of having to apply it every time I wash the Clio. Want something longer lasting but not fiddly to apply like the Gtechniq stuff.
