DF074 - Steering wheel angle Active coherence

  182 Trophy
I took my OEM wheel off and fitted an aftermarket job and the ESP light lit up - the resulting code was "DF074 - Steering wheel angle Active coherence"

I've since replaced the OEM wheel and there is no difference. I think I centred it correctly, ensuring the little window was yellow before fitting the wheel.

The only other thing I can see is a plug on the underside of the column - the wiring has been squashed. Where is the plug for the SAS?

The steering angle sensor is part of the clock ring and its not got a dedicated multiplug, its part of the main plug to the column unit.

first thing you need to do is inspect and repair the trapped wiring as this may not be the problem but its also not right then if that doesnt fix the issue you need to get it back on the diags and maybe replace the SRS/wiring.

Hi Mick, thanks for your reply.

The that clock wheel part of the whole column unit? I assume it's all replaced as one?

i had the same problem. found out that when i changed my wheel i acidently spun the squib which is easily done. the only way to make sure u get it in the right place is to plug it into a scanner with live data, so it shows the steering wheel angle

That's interesting brillco - now you've mentioned that, I'm almost certain this is the issue as it would have been turned a few times while we were trying to figure out whether the airbag cables etc. could be removed.

Out of curiosity, do I need to replace the whole unit to replace the airbag/cruise cables? I got annoyed and ended up cutting mine, but I've since decided that an aftermarket wheel is not for me.
