Dilema! HELP on second 172 purchase

  Golf R32 & 172 CUP

Right the misses has decided she wants a 172 as well, now she wants a mk2, im really not liking the idea of her buying one without warranty so would prefer she bought a 52 plate or newer, as i know how they CAN be expensive when they gop wrong.

However this means it becomes out of her budget, so would a 02 plate with 25k ish be a wise investment, or am i right in saying wait a bit find another £1k and get a newer one with warranty?

Just i dont want her moaning when something goes wrong and shes footed with a bill for faulty TCS or somthing expensive!

Cheers

Pete

if i were to get anotehr i wouldnt get a newer one. youll prob find that older ones have already had all the niggles fixed under warranty - hence it should be ok, i say that loosely tho!!

My 172 is mint on a 02 plate buy that :)

it drives like new as its had every thing new under warranty.

never been thrashed from cold i change gear at 3k untill warm.

Id personally Id go for a Mk1 less electrics to go wrong and there very cheap the saved money (youd be talking a few K) would easily cover any repairs etc.

Otherwise Id look at a high milage later Mk2 the engine very relaible, only think to check that its been serviced and preferably had its 72k service and you might need to replace the shocks if its done very high milage.

Hey, if your misses wants a 172 then you should buy her one.

You end up paying one way or the other. A newer car will be dearer, an older car will be cheaper but may need occasional repairs.

You have to pay for most repairs anyway (wear and tear), regardless of warranty.
