Discs and Pads for 172 Cup

  172 Cup
I know this has probably been asked a million times, and by all means point me to an old thread, but after only just having the cup mot'd Reno reckon

I need new discs and pads at a cost from them of £177.
I'm pretty sure for that amount I could get some upgraded discs and pads and fit 'em myself.

So i'm looking for some suggestions, or if any other Cuppers out there have fitted non-standard brakes please let me know.

Thanks

I find the cup brakes to be excellent personally, but then i have only just got it and not tracked it yet.

Personally i'd either go standard with J3ned as thats nice and cheap, or if you can afford to, get uprated jobbys if you give your car some stick, or my main reason for getting different brakes would be to fit bigger disks, which look better (grooved or drilled, or both) look great.

Alls that is needed is std Reanualt discs and DS2500 pads. If possible get some braded hoses 50 quid and some good brake fluid and give the full system a bleed. Im provement over the std set-up is significant.

This will be good enough even if yopu want to do the odd trackday.

The ultimate track day pads are DS3000 and PF97's but they will destroy your wheels with the brake dust.

  Weeman sucks ****
As above (we keep meeting like this EVO) they're great pads and dead easy to fit. But the standard renault pads served me very well through a few trackdays including the ring. Never had any fade from them either.

I'd love to. Sure she could make it over there at 60.
If mine going back at 60k or more then I'm sure the superier Cups can make it.
Even the Williams made it with a bit ovber 100k on it.

60k...

Ahem... mine's getting there quickly! 27 ring laps so far...

RE: Brakes

I've got the setup EVOgone is talking about, and I'm very pleased... If you're not going to do any trackdays at all, then std renault pads are fine.

Had an Escort RS Turbo Series 1 before and put on some drilled and grooved EBC discs and personally I thought they were absolute sh*te, so standard jobbies sounds like a plan.
Much appreciated

I've got Brembo discs with new greenstuff pads (fred said the old one's were sh>te).. seem better than std..
