that the 172ff mk2 is easier to live with than a ff 182 with cup suspension, i say this because i have noticed when in the 182 just getting from A to B but not really committed to the drive the car requires more steering corrections than my old 172, granted the 182 is better when giving it the beans and lift of oversteer is easier to control, but because of this ride i tend to grip the 182 everywhere i go these days !! I know it sounds odd but on the other when i used to take the 172 above 130 odd it felt easier to maintain straight line progress than the 182 because the back end on the 182 is a wild thing wanting to follow every camber and bump it can find. sorry for the long post but i had to get this off my chest

I can't say I've noticed a massive difference.

I owned a ff 172 up until last November and got a Megane 225 in January. My missus got a Clio 182 Cup about two months ago. The 182 doesn't really feel a million miles away from my old 172 just doesn't have the comforts.

I'd personally have to drive a 172 then a 182 within a very close space of time to really notice a difference. Otherwise I don't think they are that disimilar.

i might just be me then , sold 172 in apr 2005 bought an alfa gtv 3.0V6 sold that june 06 and been running this clio since june, could be the fact that the alfa would sit all day at 140 odd with one thumb on the wheel, when i got back behind the wheel of the clio i could not remember the old 172 to be this wayward, make no mistake its not a complaint i'm enjoying the little thing loads

I prefer the drive of my ff182 with cup suspension than my old ff172 , on an every day basis orwhen givin' it some . Plus the exaltos feel alot better than the contis especially round corners at higher speeds .

agreed, never owned a 172. only had my 182 which i still got. I was giving it some beans up the glen coe road. Had a couple of scary moments for that reason. Cars back end fallowing the camber of the road.

GTVlew, Don't forget that the RS Clio is not designed to be going 140 FFS. It's a hot hatch end of. You can't compare it to a lardy Alfa. It's a far better car on a b, or tighter road and thats it's purpose. My god the RS will make the Al;fa very slow looking where it should be, and that's not a German deristricted autobahn. What do you want fun?????????????

I've had all incarnations (except 172 cup, no way jose, too basic with no AC and not quicker enough). Anyway the 182 with cup psuspension is so much better that the MK2 172 and even better than the MK1. You are surely feeling what you should. It's not a fast cruiser, the suspension is ace. My God all the professionals have rated the cars abilities so very high. YOu didn't see Top Gear take the MK2 172 round their track at 0.3 seconds slower than the R32. (182 FF cup packs)

You get what you buy for a reason and that's it I'm affraid.
