Went out this morning, car is stupidly shakey.. if you want the gearstick while you drive, it shakes like no tomorrow, you can also feel the whole car shaking, I'm assuming bushes, but?

Also, the car seems to "struggle" in strange places, then boost and be comfortable, then "struggle" again.

Any ideas perhaps?

Bit of both to be honest.

It doesnt lose all power, just struggles, as if you were doing 15mph up a hill in 5th gear..

It was fine on the way to petrol station, then I filled it up with £15 worth, and it started. :S

Open the bonnet and get someone else to blip it while you look at the engine - check an engine mount hasn't snapped, if it's making the whole car shake it sounds like a mount might have gone and the engine is moving about too much

Cheers Phil, will try that too.

It was strange, felt like I had a flat front passenger side tyre. Perhaps thats where the "problem/noise" is coming from?

Sounds a LOT like the top gearbox mount might have snapped or come loose - it is a common fault and then the gearbox drops onto the subframe

Shouldn't be really - you get to the top gearbox mount under the battery tray - they have a nut on the bottom of the mount that can rattle loose and the thing drops down. It's more likely to be that than snapped

A garage would just remove battery and undertray, jack up the gearbox till it's in place and re-fit the mount

Have it going on a Diag machine shortly, then up on the ramps, so fingers crossed.

I'll keep you posted, to let you know if your prediction was correct. :)!

Did your drunk mate break it?

Part of.

The gearbox mount has gone, which is probably from impact as he launched it up a pavement.

And it needs a service, new plugs, new oil, oil filter, and air filter.

Do I win a goldfish in a bag?

It's kinda scary this forum is full of people that think your symptoms could have been caused by a dodgy injector or spark plug lol

It would have to be a really severe coilpack issue to make the whole car shake and the gearstick to shake around

Coilpack will just cause the engine too missfire but most of that will be damped by the engine mounts. Unless your engine is wedged against the firewall or something lol

If a cylinder is dead then it can be horrific, think when a pencil coil went on the coupe(s) it was probably the worst, it really did shake the car badly. Either way, at least he's getting it sorted.

You win a legitimate signed photo of Nick Clegg, and a man to my words, here it is;

It does need a new set of plugs too to be fair.

General service.

My first thought was its running on 3 (which could have been plugs/injector/coilpack/HT leads)
