I've just bought my 182, and even though it had an aux belt replaced when it was supposed to, they (French Car-Nection) didn't bother to replace the idler or tensioner, so for peace of mind I have bought & fitted a complete Renault Aux kit.
Anyway, I noticed that on the invoice, French Car-Nection mentioned that the sound deadening on the inner wing had been rubbing on the crank pulley/belt, and so had removed it. It has since been put back on as it was fitted when I removed belt, etc, but so far I've not put it back.
Is this fairly common? Better to leave it off than risk it making a mess of the aux belt? Does it make much difference to cabin noise?
Was worth doing anyway, tensioner seemed OK, but the idler bearing was a bit worn & noisy, that's at 80k and what I assume to be originals.
