Electric Power Steering Rack

  182, SQ7, Trafic
As much info as possibly please. Wan't to get rid of these pipes all over the engine bay, but definitely think I need to keep the PAS as its f**king heavy without it!

Which models did it come with? Is it an easy fit? Pics?

Its definately on the 1.2's. Its crap though, irradicates almost all steering feel.

Iv ditched pas on mine danny and currently use a dci rack, its not that heavy compared to what it was with original rack,

There is a way to get a saxo vtr pump to work though, some people have mentioned it on here,

Burps running the saxo setup IIRC...

DCI rack as a manual isnt heavy though either really, once you're past 10mph there is no difference really, easily drivable

i ran without assistance on my electric rack for a while, once your moving its fine, but with 205 tyres on it was dreadfully heavey when not assisted (im a pathetic wimp so parking was hard.)

Hold on.

Your 172 standard rack isn't electric is it. Its hydraulic. I'm running a Williams hydraulic rack dry with the pipes looped to eachother. Surely you can do the same on yours??

Yea I can do, we did think about doing that but was unsure. Do we need a little fluid in there too?

Mines completely dry.

I've looped the pipes round so its a sealed unit, but its bone dry. Not heavy at all.

I'm told that if the rack is full of fluid and it has no power assistance, thats what makes it heavy. Mines not even remotely heavy.

Yes you Dan :rasp:

I've heard that method before, if it works fine for you I'll be fine too!
