Emmisions light on, car feels a bit slower and occasional faint burning smelll ???

Quite worried about my car at the moment because of this :S what could be the problem ???

Also, could someone tell me, are the engines in these quite rattly when warm, as in they arent very quiet around the cam area ??

mine isnt very rattly just more than other cars ive had in past.

My engine is 'LOUDER' ish but not rattly if you know what i mean. Still quiet tho compared.
Could be anything really, could even be a 02 sensor thats breaking down.
Recently had one go down on mine and it sent the eng mang light on and was lumpy as hell when cold and a flat spot from2k revs til about 3.5 then it would let go.

Bonus for me with me having the ramp and diagnostics kit, it cost me a fiver....

would a lambda sensor make the car feel sluggish if its on its way out ??

it may well do if its just on its way out! if it completely dies itll have the above symptoms!
also it depends on what lambda on the 182 as there is 2! one pre-cat and one post-cat!

when you say the "emissions" light is on, are you refering to the engine management light?!

it could be your cat thats dying

The light is the square box at the bottom left of the dash. Its not flashing, just constantly on.

The burning smell isnt eggy like a cat tho....

Sometimes wont be eggy.

Yeah will be lumpy and flat because it isnt burning correctly, mine was pre-cat the end had fallen off :s
