Engine bay cleaning

Any ideas on how to do it???

Ive heard some people get a pressure washer in and give it a hose down and others just use pure elbow grease (the last option isnt a option as my engine bay is plastered in crap!)

what do you guys do to wash them? would you advise using a pressure washer on it (away from all electrics tho)

hose on light sprinkle setting over a cold engine that has had degreaser soaked in for 5 mins. Dried with a microfibre towel.

Make sure you cover the electrics though first.

Spray it all with degreaser, pressure wash the whole thing, use common sense.

(ie avoind going directly on electrics, cover up any open cone filters etc)

There is no need to cover up electrics.

But theres no harm in being cautious.

Degreaser or APC on with a brush, lightly hose it off avoiding electrics and dress it with Poorboys and a MF cloth

Have a read mate. All you need to know really. The guides aren't as good to be honest as they used to be, but you get the picture.

Tin foil over ALL electrics, and try to avoid the belt/alternator area too. Best way I found is to use an old microfibre towl, and wipe everything down. Don't go crazy with a hose pipe.
