I've got to clean an engine that's covered in oil…the dipstick has been left out so it's spat oil everywhere.
Whats the easiest/quickest/safest way??!

Was thinking lots of APC, jet wash, fairy liquid?

There might be a better way but I just use brake cleaner from BMW (about a fiver per tin). Takes oil off an engine with ease.

You don't have to worry about water getting where it shouldn't either as it just evaporates.

Joe, cover up as much of the electrical bits as possible.

Wipe as much up as possible with rags.
G101 would be good or brake cleaner.

Maybe remove the under tray/lower engine cover so all of the crap can run out of the bottom.

Thanks for the replies lads.
So is jet washing a bad idea then?

I wouldn't chance it myself, give brake cleaner a try - you'll be surprised at how effective it is.

Did doubt you a little bit but does work really well, didn't take as long as I thought either so happy days! Cheers mate.
