engine bay sound/heat deadning removal

anyone done this? saw it on a few cars at fcs and it looked great. will it be much louder/warmer inside the car if i remove it? if i remove it will the area where it was be painted?
can anyone think of any other reasons why i shouldn't remove it. didn't want to go and remove it if its there for a good reason. i know the brake lines are behind there too

err its there to stop the car heating up and stay quiet keep it there or least replace it.

cheers edde. just saw it on a track car and it looked impressive. mine is just looking a bit rough. might give it a clean then, if that doesn't work i might replace it. easy enough to replace?

i took mine off and it doesn't over heat or get too hot and doesn't seem to be any louder

luke it is painted behind there so no wierd overspay area's or undercoated sections.

Iv took mine of cuz it was rubbing the paint of my engine cover but it hasnt over heated and cant really tell the difference in the sound.

so is the dynamat just that silver insulation stuff that the 'ice' lot use for smooth sounding bass? do they do it in like a carpet form so i can use it for the reafr of a stripped car?

You can get different variations of Dynamat for different purposes/ares of the car

thats the under bonnet carpet on the pics (i have already removed that. im on about the peice behind the engine in both pics. between the engine bay and the dash (where the water bottle screws too)

lol, no reason other than it looks good. saw it on the k-tek track car, the engine bay looked really clean without it. they just go dirty and they rip

How easy was it to take off, it looks tight behind the power steering reservoir. I want to get mine out and replaced as it has started to change colour and looks a bl**dy mess.

I'd like to replace it with something. Ideally something that's already made to fit (not another original engine bay mat jobbie from Renault).

I took the bonnet's sound deadening off a few years ago and thought it might effect the paint on the bonnet. It's not very noticeable though if it has so I'm not sure what it's there for, seems pointless.

If you have a car with air con I think there's a black panel that will be a different colour to your car (unless you have a black car lol). It's around the air con pipes

Cant see what it does anyway!! The car is still as quiet as a mouse and the bonnet doesnt get any warmer. Looks better without it when the bonnets up as well!!
