Engine conversion. 172/182 into a 1.4 shell

  Frp'd Fiesta
hello this is my first post and im a bit of a n00b when it comes to anything other than ford so be easy on me :).

im looking into getting a new car as ive had a mk5 fiesta now for a year and a half and getting bored of them. even though i have the ford racing puma lump in mine at the moment. ive also been offered a good price for it.

ive been looking into getting a 172/182 as they seem fairly fast and cheap but dont have stupid mpg like the evo's ive been looking at. however ive always liked the look of the v6 clio , ive found this on pistonheads. http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/1013921.htm .

my question basically is what do i need to get a 172/182 lump in it? im guessing the engine, gearbox, loom, ecu, key, transponder etc. im guessing it would also need bigger brakes. but what about driveshafts and things like that? im guessing id have to get a bigger manifold and cat back than are currently on it?

is the cost going to be stupid? (i can get the work done cheap) am i better off getting a standard 172/182?

cheers
Matt

V6 replicas are never right they all look odd over the back arches and that one is no different.

Be sensible and just buy a proper Renaultsport clio.

That V6 replica looks gash , as do most . Either buy a real V6 or a 1*2 .

Waste of time and money when a phase 1 172 can be had for just over £2k. £5k + gets you a 182, £6.5k + a trophy.
Why you would want to buy that for £4k is beyond me.

I wouldn't do it mate, no V6 replica is worth the aggrivation of taking on board. They look ridicolous imo

For 4k you could have a 172 minus the hastle of changing engines and setting up steering geo etc...

Save yourself the hastle!

People must forget that the V6 has a longer wheelbase than a standard Clio, thus making the gappage on the front arch absolutely hideous.

That's a good effort, but could look better. I'd just buy a 182 - think of declaring all that s**t on the 'vee' to your insurance! Waste of time and money imo when you could just have a mint 182 :)
