Engine mounts and suspension

Right i think my mounts for my engine on my 1.4 mk2 ph2 have gone soggy or something. If i gun it into 2nd or wheel spin the engine bangs like mad. whats the best way to tell wether theyre gone? also when i go over drains etc in my car and my brothers clio (his is a 1.2) its really bangy... like quite harsh.. why is this?
