Engine upgrades for 172 (new to forum, sorry if been asked before)

Hello all,

New to clio world, had a few quick hatches over the years, a number of VR6's, big engined novas (in my youth lol), to name a few. I recently purchased an immaculate 51 plate 172 with 70000 miles and one owner from new. Very pleased with it so far. However Im never happy and want more hehe. what are the best routes to up engine power on these? Budget will be around 1000-1500, what do you all think?

Apologies if this has been asked before.

Thanks in advance.

Martin

Not really sure to be honest, would love a bit more torque, its a great engine when you rev the tits off it, would just like it have a bit more lower down if you know what I mean?

For that money you're looking at throttle bodies, but they may be more around the 2k mark.

Personally I wouldnt bother with engine mods, as I wrote in the cams thread on here too.

Its a 2 litre NA engine, you're never going to get it to put you back in you're seat at low revs.

save a tad more and you can get the jms inlet manifold fitted, mapped and uprated engine mounts for about 1700 quid. Bit of a bargain really and should see you to 190bhp.

Go for remap, exhaust and matched inlets, should see some better torque figures and it will pull harder through the gears, that will set you back around £650ish

Id recommended this if your willing to spend the money, best bit of kit out there for the price
