Evaporative emission control valve

ive been busy boy today, working on the french bag of sh*t. After fitting my uprated dogbone mount and rehanging my exhaust i decided to set about locating a squeling noise coming from the aux pullys area. long story short it turned out to be the alternater so i changed it.

it was while i was changing the alternater and had the the headlight out that i noticed this solenoid vavle. it was connected electrically but the bits of vacuum pipe connected to it didnt appear to go anywhere. it must have got overlooked when i changed the ewngine. could someone tell me where the pipes goto and what the evaporative valve does?

Any info would be great cheers

stops u from smelling petrol, when u open the fuel cap

its pretty well documented in the haynes

mine has been removed

The fuel vapour breatehr system takes vapour out of the tank into a charcoal canister and basically controls the amount of vapour......either bled into the inlet manifold or atmosphere.

The hose from the tank goes to the canister, then out to a T peice which goes one way to the solenoids, then the other direction through a restrictor peice of tube, baco to another T peice which the outlet of the valve joins to, then the final exit on the last T goes to the inlet manifold.

Cheers lads for the help. just one more quick question. on my old 1.8 inlet manifold their are two connections comming from the side for vacuum pipes. but on the williams engine there is only one, would i be right in thinking that the extra one is for a evapo solenoid pipe?

think u will find the one that is missing from the willy, is the one in the centre of the manifold like i said

all from memory tho

aernt those two little pipes for:-

1,map sensor

2,fuel rail pressure regulator or charcoal canister(cant remember)

erm, cant really see whats what in that pic, but on the connections on the manifolds from far end moving towards throttle body are:

charcoal canister
MAP
cam cover to manifold vapour recirculation breather pipe
brake servo
fuel pressure reg
i think thats right
