Exhaust help please!!

Having just picked up my new 172 on 1st Sept 2003, I was eager to get a new exhaust to make it stand out from the crowd. I set out to buy a twin 3" Magnex. I know a number of members have this particular exhaust with no problems. I rang Demon-Tweeks spoke to the exhaust guy who said it wasnt compatible with a mark 2 as the exhaust is in 2 sections. The alternative he said was to take a saw to the existing one!! I dont fancy doing that as the motor is obviously new & if the garage got funny about the warranty, I could always pop the old one back on. The alternative for me is a K2 K-tec, but at £328 It seems a lot of money. Having said that, it really looks the part although am concerned about whether it is too noisy & will piss the neighbours off.

who cares about the neighbours ?

I think the magnex one does fit okay, although it wasnt meant for the phase 2 it can be made to fit.

The k-tec ones are v. loud apparently but pick you exhaust for what you want not what the neighbours will think.

I have the quiet K-tec and its really not too loud. A lot quieter than their original!!! its top quality and sounds the nuts!!!

Only problem with keeping the original whole is that you will have to drop the rear beam down to get the zorst over it. I told the guy that fitted mine that I wanted it in 1 piece if possible and he said that was the only way he could get it off.

If you were after a back-box then yes, theyd have to saw your existing exhaust in half. On the other hand a cat-back system will go straight on.

Chris are you saying that they had to cut through the old exhaust so they could put the K-tec on? Also how much did your zorst set you back? I was quoted £328 for a k-tec. What a dliemma!!! A magnex or a k-tec!!!
