exhaust problem again

i posted a thread a few weeks back regarding exhaust - after reading the posts on here and nothing worked i took it to a local garge.

they told me the flex had broken on the exhaust and it need replacing, anyway they did this and all sounded fine.

however it started making the noise again when you pull away ( its like a tinny growl) makes the car sound s**t - any ideas what it could be

Have you checked the fitting kit? Its 2 springs near where the manifold is (before the cat). If one of the 2 springs has snapped, then it can make the exhaust blow and rattle. They're about £16 from Renault. Just get them to put it up on the ramp, and then go towards the front of the car and you'll see the 2 springs. If one has snapped, the majority of the exhaust will move enough to be noticeable from the back end. Might not be this...but worth a try.

No worries mate. I'd never heard of this until last month. It might not be the solution...but if it is...then its a cheap fix.

mine sounds like it coming from the front - i recently have the flex spring changed (i persume thats near the front) but its still making the same noise, so what else could it be

mine is noisy and i've replaced that spring kit thing. i think my manifold may be blowing, but have you seen how little room there is at the back of the engine to check this sh1t?

The 1.2 16v doesnt have the "spring" kit that the 172 has its just a flange bolted to a cast iron manifold. Just past the down pipe it has a piece of flexipipe this is integrated into the whole cat. I think they have replaced the flexipipe but it had come loose.

powerflow cat back never had this problem before, the exhaust has always been fine
