Fallout : New Vegas

Re: Fallout : New Vegas - Released 22/10/2010

Not really. When I was playing point lookout some of the guys in there are solid. Like the big fat redneck guys with the sawn off. They were pretty difficult TBF!

T51b Armour (or winterised if you prefer), with Shady hat and one of the unique energy weapons will keep you from harm:-

A3-21 Plasma rifle
Metal Master (The Pitt)
Vengeance (stock up on cells!)

Mind, like I said, I didn't even leave the capital wasteland until level 20, so as long as you kill something in one VATS turn, you get all your AP back to repeat the process, unendingly, until everything is a goo or ash pile

Re: Fallout : New Vegas - Released 22/10/2010

I'm on level 23 now and did the bit in Broken Steel in Old Olney with the Deathclaws yesterday. I seemed to struggle a bit to be fair, used loads of stimpacks. I did concentrate on small guns perk though, maybe that was a mistake.
Not at all, not to begin with anyway.

Mind, on my last playthrogh I went straight to Operation Anchorage, so I've got the top-whack armour and a choice of dandy energy weapons.

Is teh guide worth it boys? £10.49 from amazon

DEFINITELY. It's a great tome of useful knowledge! I've only glance-read it so far (purposely skipping the parts I've yet to explore) - but there are LOADS of things I've already missed out on. Definitely buy it. :)

Just to double check :)o) I can go out and buy the guide now, right? Or is it only on the release date?

Re: Fallout : New Vegas - Released 22/10/2010

seems to be pre-order on Amazon ATM, although I think I read that the guide comes out the day before the game, could easily be wrong though

I've pre-ordered the Collector's Edition (same as the one I've got for FO3)

Why buy the guide when the net has the same but more, and easier to find what you want? Honestly don't understand why anyone would buy a guide now?

well personally my xbox isnt in the same room as my pc, so having to nip upstairs to check the net is more effort than sitting downstairs playing with a guide book to hand

however, ive never used a guide book but think i might do this time

because sometimes it's worth paying the money for quality goods.
and generally not being tight.

It's not being tight! I just genuinely find the internet has the exact answer you want and quicker than searching through a book. Tightness doesn't come into it I just think you are paying money for something which isn't as helpfull as something you can get for free on the net!

I agree Brun convenience is a factor, luckily my PC and 360 are about 10 feet away from each other!

I think its just nice to have it structured and all in one place.

Although I agree the internet will provide the same info. I'm still buying it though :approve:

i thought the idea of fallout 3 was for you to go out and explore for yourself?

not sure what's in the guide but i think i'd get more pleasure but trying to work things out for myself rather than using a book

should be able to, its a different storyline, not a continuation of.

Re: Fallout : New Vegas - Released 22/10/2010

All of the fallout games are set in different periods and different places. With you taking on the roll of a different character.

All you will really miss out on are certain references to the older games. Or the odd character who was in the old games etc.

Nothing that will actually make any difference as you play the game.

Can't wait for this! I spent many many hours on fallout 3 and it's definitely one of the best games I've played so really looking forward to this!

Definitely worthy of a pre-order :)

the amount of stuff you'll miss is untrue with out a guide believe me 200hrs of FO3 proves that even with a guide

Re: Fallout : New Vegas - Released 22/10/2010

I've never been a fan of game guides but I would definitely agree that a fallout one would be worthwhile, seeing a there's so much that can be missed.
