FAO All 182 Owners with Magnex Exhausts

Hi All, i thought i would pass this info on to you all regarding the Magnex cat back system for the Clio 182. For months i had problems with my exhaust sagging on the rear "standard" mountings so much so that it would rattle on the rear axle beam,and also the tailpipes not sitting central in the bumper cut outs. After speaking to Magnex they wanted to have my car for a few days to rectify the problem by re-manufacturing a pair of exhaust mounts to replace the standard ones which as you all know just bolt onto the underside of the boot floor,which means they are straight forward to swap over, they will supply them with spacing washers so it is possible to alter the height of the tailepipes to suit modified bumpers etc. I have run my car for 3 weeks now with no problems at all, the tailpipes sit perfect within the bumper cut outs and not a tie wrap in sight.Apparently these modified mounts will be available through Magnex. I recieved the following letter today from Magnex:

As you know, we at Magnex are tremendously proud of our product - as manufacturers of original equipment exhausts to companies like Aston Martin, Lotus & Ford, high fit standard is one of our core principles.

Although the problems you encountered are not representative of every Renault Clio182 system sold, we have non-the-less re-engineered the mounting brackets for all subsequent production of this part.

I would be grateful if you could pass this message on to the Renault driving community via the usual forums.

A YozzaSport system is only £100 more than the magnex....is there any contest....really??

For starters it looks as if theres an old clothes hanger between the two rear boxes...then theres the 'Y' split jus before the rear boxes....the list goes on..

Exhausts are like wine you get what you pay for and everyone likes different things..

Have to admit the Magnex I had on my 172 weighed loads and really swung around on its mounts.

Good on them for sorting it out though.

Maz im awaiting my 3rd system now coz of all of the mentioned problems ive had Steve from Magnex mentioned about posting on this forum I cant wait for my significantly improved magnex + mounts to arrive. Thats the exact feedback I needed to give me the confidence to fit another one after the 2 previous.....

I am on my third system now and mine was meant to be improved .. no mounts though but im still not happy, think I will be asking for my money back after christmas when the office is open again

Hi all and a merry xmas to you, It was me who first put this post on regarding the modified rear mounts, Magnex had my car for a week to sort the sagging of the exhaust out, they made these mounts to replace the standard Reno ones and asked me to run the car for a couple of weeks to see if the problem was solved.After letting Magnex know that they were ok they asked me let other owners know via the Reno forums. I will post some pictures of them once i get my car back from the Reno dealer :-(

Its in having a new temp sensor fitted and a new throttle body due to it cutting out when cold.

that thing must be a brute! our BTB is 7kg odd lighter than the standard system!

probably why it fits perfect without any sag.

Although good on for Magnex trying to solve the problem.

Lol... Maz ive been told to phone back at the end of the month before I can get mine. I did mention to steve (magnex) that this will be it for me if this one is no good.
Do they ever contact you because they are always telling me to phone back at certain times,dates etc??

Fianlly got this sorted *touch wood* exhaust fits perfectly and seems good to me .. feels like it has taken forever .. oh thats cause it has .. lol 8 systems later and im happy (for now) lol

Eight systems!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Bleeding hell! Fit on my Milltek has been spot on and I had one of the first 11 in the country. The Blueflame system I had fitted to my car beforehand took loads of tweaking to sit right.

I emailled them regarding new mounts - they told me they didn't make any.. by the sound of this post they have made some different from standard renault mounts, rather than altering the mounts actually on the exhaust?

They wont do anything about mine anyway as it wasn't me who originally purchased it, and they're not interested in payment to sort it either. payday = new exhaust.. just unsure of what, maybe an orbisound. This magnex is horrendous, non stop resetting of my hangers just so I don't have people reminding me they dont sit straight or hang right

Yeah they have developed uprated mounts, insteas of having to use the Renault ones, I tried to get you a set out of the last system they sent me but as they knew I already had a set they didnt send them, sorry.

Who did you speak to at Magnex ?

"We didn't send out mounts we were replacing the system, unfortunately the lifetime warrantee is for the original purchaser only and they are issued with a unique registration number at the time they register the warrantee. As yours is not under warrantee there isn't anything we can do as this just wasn't a case of replacing the brackets, and we do not sell replacement hangers"
