Ferrari V8 engined Elise/Exige

Car  E46 M3
I'm helping a mate put a Ferrari 355 engine in an S1 Elise with Exige bits.

Need a fuel pump recommendation. The fuel rail doesn't have return like a phase 2, what do the Clio big turbo builds use? Needs to flow enough fuel for around 400bhp.

I no the twin turbo supras which run over 400 bhp use a walbro fuel pump, anything bigger like 500 bhp plus use a twin or triple fuel pump hanger! Or a bosch 044 fuel pump does just over 600 bhp i think

Aeromotive A1000 will do you perfect. plus its red. or a pair of bosch 044s

Aeromotive seems a bit over the top and why would you need 2 44s? Thinking of weight here, one seems enough. And what pressure regulator?

I don't know whether to be happy that an Elise is going to get a decent engine or sad knowing that a 355 had to die to make it.
He's been slated by Ferrari AND Lotus people!

I have no technical advice to give, but for the love of all that's holy - we need more details.

I'll get something together.

The plan was to build something with at least 500bhp per tonne. I thought the tried and tested route of supercharged Honda would be best but Pat likes a challenge. I had no idea about the engine till I looked in his garage!

So the engine came from a Euroboss car (open single seater formula cars) fully stripped of all ancillaries which saved some hassle. The engine came with a Pectel SQ6 ECU. It will use modified E92 M3 exhaust manifolds with custom exhaust.
Its running an electric waterpump with a much bigger rad. Because it came out of a single seater there is no alternator so thats being camshaft driven. Its tiny and I don't think 45 amps will be enough but we'll see.

A Cosworth (Pectel) dash was sourced to pair with the ECU. Loom will be entirely custom.

It will run the standard dry sump with custom tank/cooler. Custom gearbox oil cooler.

The gear linkage is going to be a major pain. The k-series was cable and the 355 is rod.

Exactly what will happen with hubs/driveshafts/brakes/wheels is yet to be decided but they certainly won't be the originals!

Not enough power:

If you can get that to work it will be amazing and sound just as good, good luck...

Just a little update:
The suspension is coming along, refurbed wishbones with new bushes and ball joints.

The engine and gearbox are in the for final time (hopefully!)

You can just see the camshaft driven alternator on the left which took some time to machine the pulley and mount.

Left to do - bodywork, lights, driveshafts, dampers, front uprights, steering rack, dry sump tank, driver's seat, gear linkage and the dreaded wiring loom. Oh and front brakes, wheels and tyres.

My mate whose building it went to autosport and is now insisting on centrelock wheels

More updates.

A start has been made on the gear shifter which is a genuine shifter and a linkage rod from some random old f1 car I'd never heard of!
