Finally got a 172 :D

  clio 172
Picked up a 172 of a member on this site, (Reeesta, very nice and helpful lady ;) and was upset to see her clio go, dont blame her :( , its in good hands though )

Got it for £5000 exactly with 44000miles on the clock and quite a nice example of one i think..... absoultely chuffed to bits!!!
Now iv got it and have had a chance to see what the cars really made of im stunned....... the performance on this little car is amazing lol....

172 bhp in this little beast and seeing as i had a clio 1.2 8valve before this you can probly guess how much fun im having lol

All of little extra's in the car which is a real bonus to...

There is one thing i dont like....... the car is really painful, thing is it makes you smile so much that your face really does begin to hurt
biggrin.gif

Took it up on the south downs and took some of these pics..... the grey sky sets it off kinda well i think lol..
couple of pics from back at home too

Gonna get some more pics when the sun comes out

love taking pics of it almost as much as driving it hehe.

Hard to think that anyone buying a car in this price range wouldnt go for this... great car.

Had alot of problems with the renault dealer by me with the previous clio so wont be taking it there again.... and fingers crossed not all renault garages are like them because i dont want the enjoyment of this car to be let down by poor service from them.

Been reading this site loads and all you lot seem to be really helpful and glad that i found the forum :) Sure you'l hear alot from us now hehe (me and the girlfriend).

I was thinking that... how much would i be looking at for one? Are they simple to fit, not so good with this sort of thing?

yeah gonna keep it really clean :) I always enjoyed cleaning my cars... and sure il enjoy cleaning this one even more.

Trouble is all my previous cars have been silver so have been really easy to give a wash... this one takes a bit more work as water marks etc show up more.
Im gonna have a read about on here and see if there are any good posts on keeping these black ones looking nice:)

if you are talking about the splitter then they are about 120 from your local stealers but plenty of people on here sell them for about 70 i think and check ebay aswell and yes they are easy to fit , mine took about 20 mins to fit as its olny lining it up then self tapping screws, so all you need is a pilot hole and your away.

ok Ta... il look into that. The lower grill as well i wouldnt mind changing, this ones a bit loose too so its a case of sorting that or getting an original one.

I think i can remember reading on here that they are about £40? Might be mistaken though cos that seems a bit cheap.

Also something else i was wondering about, the previous owner only had one key for it. How much would i be looking at to get one of these? I had a look on ebay for keys but im not sure i trust them... can you get used key's re-programmed or is this not a good idea?

Nice one mate, big jump from a 1.2 8v !!

lol yeah, had that for a few years and was getting a bit tedious to drive tbh. The change in performance is just unbelievable... after driving a 1.2 for 3 years then jumping into this its like all my christmas's and birthdays have come at once lol....

Looks tidy mate, I agree, standard front grill would look good. For the number plate on the front, go for a 3/4 size one from fancy plates in standard font. Looks aweesome IMO, especially on black. Just get a normal size standard font on the back.

nice mate looks great

get rid of the crap mats in it though...get some decent ones will look 100% better inside

Looks lovely amigo, has it had a aftermarket alarm fitted cause I cannot see the usual UK Renault fitted led?

Buy a first class stamp.stick it on an envelope, and put your licence in it, and have the best time of your life for as long as you can see the cameras,,, just bought an Astra Bertone Coupe with 145 Horses, but they're nothing like the 172 Horses. Oh no, they just want you to let them loose all the time...can't control them.......

strange, I thought that the appeal of a 172 was driving the f**king thing not poncing about doing it's make up. Really p*sses me off. Change this, change that, looks pretty, WTF !!

have done. I just wonder why people want to tart their cars up. My personal view is that the quieter the car is, (visually and aurilly), the faster you can drive it (before you get plod coming for a chat). But I suppose that a lot of people would rather look fast than actually be so.

I agree . I prefer the standard look when it comes to the 172/182's so thats why i said put it back to standard with the original lower front grill .

I think this threads gone slightly off topic , lol . Off to bed now . Hope you feel better tomorrow mate .Night :)
