Fitted my Viper



That looks jsut like mine! lol

no worry about water etc.....i drove about HK and when it rains there, its RAINS! tropical storm sylee....no probs....jsu dont drive though a fjord!

Slugger looks good but have you thought about changing the cold air feed pipe to a black one to match your engine bay?
 


Wayne many thanks for the pics. Nice work. Youre the first with pics who thought to turn the IK near vertical vs flat. makes a lot more sense. Im also thinking to replace the IK/TB hose with a shorter 90deg elbow and gain some more space, but Ill decide when I get my long-awaited BMC (Its only been 5 **%%^^ weeks)
 


ps Wayne, youre using mesh on the lower grille, didnt like the std? Also you may need to move the IK duct slightly + make a hole in the mesh to allow fitting your towing eye
 


Cheers philip I thought it made sense to angle it downwards as much as possible. I will be replacing the plastic ducting to the throttle body with silicon hose too. Prefer the look of the mesh. I needed the towin eye before to go on a RR so I just pushed the mesh back and slid it across but today I did cut a hole in it to go on another RR after having it remapped ;) but more on that later.....

paul I had already bought that cos I expected the Viper to come with weedy foil like ducting ( but it didnt ) cost me £35 quid so thought id use it. That can withstand temperatures upto 300 deg C or something ill have you know hehe :D
 


May I say how good both Paul172 and Sluggers IK look, did you guys have to re-map your ecu or have you had new chips fitted?

Next question how much are the kits and how easy are they to fit, My old boys a wiz with cars but he used to classics etc would he be able to fit it?

Also probablya daft question but why havent you followed the original route of the cold feed, i think it sucks from the bottom of the bumper, is the reason to get cold air forced in?

you cant force air in.

Its just the easiest and best place to get the lowest temp air from outside the engine bay.
 


That hasnt answered my question but thanks anyway! I wasnt very clear onwhat I meant, however, you can force air in or should i say direct the air...

Im lost too, im just going on what someone tried to explain to me who races in the BTCC championship hes a privateer, he drives a CTR!!! :-)

Anyway i think it was someting to do with a remote area..not RAM air as I think jump in and correct me if im wrong that RAM only applies to motobikes doesnt it!

ram air applies to any vehilce that can travel fast enough.

But motorbikes only really use it since they can achieve ridiculous speeds needed to create a tiny amount of positive pressure, not even near a singel PSI as you have to be doing well over 200mph since the max theoretical pressure you can achieve at 200mph is about 0.7psi.

Anyway, you need to design an induction system primarily for he use of ram air if your going to use it, and you need a HUGE plenum area and a relatively small intake to create a pressure drop.

The reason the intake is remotely located is to get it away from the hot engine bay where air temps are around the 70-80 deg range and you can lower it by 50% easily by using air from outside the engine bay.

Then you get into reduced temps, increased desity, more O2 to burn, more power so on and on.

abbs, mine is going for a run on the rollers this week. And i have followed the route of the original feed with the new cold air feed pipe as shown in the pics on page 1, but ive took it all the way to the front grill. cheers paul172

The original air feed goes to behind the bumper just below the headlight so is still in the engine bay. This way it get air directly from outside. They are a doddle to fit. Price has gone up to nearly £300 but Carnoisseur in Southend will do you a good deal.

Had my ecu remapped by london superchips in Uxbridge this afternoon. Made 187bhp on their rollers. Really throws you back in the seat now. Had my rev limit upped to 8k as well :devilish:
 


Wayne, 187 sounds good. Some Qs: Didnt you expect more with viper/chip? Do you have the standard exhaust? how much did the Schip cost you and did they use a specific map to cater for your IK?

i was hoping for a bit more to be honest chris and roamer ;) but 187 is good. philip i have a k-tec cat back exhaust. remap cost 293 and they adjusted the map to cater for ik and exhaust and of course no physical evidence haha
 


Has anyone thought of modding a headlight to pass the induction hose through it?
