fitting a steering wheel

if i disconnect the battery then after an hour or so disconnect the steering wheel airbag and fit a resistor will the SERV light still come on when the battery is reconnected as there has been a break in the system?

No Mate. Dont really need to leave it an hour either. Just disconect the battery and do it.

You might as well wait 30 mins if you've got the time - no harm in it.

If you've got the correct resistor, the light will not come on. Even if it does (say from a lose connection) it will go off once you've fixed it and restarted.

nice 1 mike - tryin to decide between seats or a steering wheel - i know they are a lot different in price but I can only afford to do one of them at the mo - think it will be the steering wheel.
did you get your resistor from maplin?
what do you think of these seats:

The system should deactivate in a few seocns but at £300 to fix it you do set the airbag off best leave it half an hour.
I wrote a guide a while back on airbags etc this it might be stickied on the page have a search.

think its about 15 mins u have 2 wait after disconnecting the battery then it shud be ok. its the same when doin seatbelt pre tensioners n that

Well it's never caused me any problems an the technical manual just says to disconnect the battery. Just an old wife's tale IMHO But best to be safe than sorry i suppose
