Fitting Help for Viper+Elbow on Cup

Hello...bought a viper and hillpower elbow for the cup, spoke to NicK Hill on the phone and he said he will send me the longest elbow he has as he doesnt know the length needed for the viper, but it'll def need cutting.

Question is, how much should I cut, should i measure it up against standard 172 elbow and cut it same length as that?

doesn't really matter, but make sure the viper clears the battery support arm as ours use to rub on it
