Fitting Milltek decat

Still toying with the idea of one of these - I thought it would be a simple jack car up onto axle stands, undo cat to manifold bolts, take out cat, slot in decat and screw up. But done a few searches and some people suggesting having another pair of hands to hold something from the engine bay??

No need mate, a ramp is better but axle stands suffice. Undo cat to manifold bolts, undo clamp at rear of cat and remove cat.

There were a few swear words while removing the cat but it isnt rocket science......i love the sound of my 182 now with the full decat milltek especially on track it sounds epic just buzzing away at 7 grand

Well I've just jacked the car up to have a look at what I'm up against. The jack broke on the way up and wedged itself into the side skirt - nice little dent in it and it doesn't sit flush with the rest of the body. *anger*

Drive to Halfords twice, once to get some new axle stands and then another trip to buy a new jack. Can't have a proper look underneath as everything is still too warm, now enjoying a break and some headache treatment!

Latest update - I can't remove the lambda from the cat. The nut just will not budge! Everything else comes off fine, except this bar steward!!

Yeh I have done, probably going to need a new cat to manifold kit too. More expense!

Will give that a try if the soaking in wd40 doesn't work, thanks! Would holding up a lighter to it do any good? Or a blow torch? Or is it too close to the fuel tank...

It still won't budge. Can't even take out the cat and try as the lamda is held in by a clip on a heat shield! Argh!!

Argh given up! Can't remove the clamp that holds part of the cat system to the Milltek pipe! Put the old cat back on after a lot of swearing, and now it's sagging like a b**ch :(

I had to get a local mech with a blowtorch to heat my lambda up. (Didn't think of running engine) still looked like a wimp trying to undo the damn thing even when it was glowing!!

Plus Gas is your friend.

Replaced my pre cat lambda at the weekend with Badgerman.... he soaked the bad boy in Plus Gas and it came right off. Having the right tool really helped though!

Or you could try taking it back off again (unplug the wire for the lambda) & get a meaty spanner on it, stand on the cat, then repeatedly beat it with a hammer until it starts to undo.
