Fitting xenons to a 172 cup?

Looking likely I'll have a 172 cup by end of the month, but really want the xenons you get on normal 172's

Is it an easy swap to change headlights and fit ballasts etc..? And how much do they usually cost second hand (cliospares.co.uk are about 10mins from my house)

  Mk5 golf gti
easy swap
but they fail easy
i wouldnt get em lol
they do look good though
price im not sure of.ballasts are 50 - 100 each
bulbs of ebay are 20 each
id find some one with a crashed one an try an get acheap price on there set of lights

Really? Had mine four years on the 1.2 and never went wrong . . .

But as Dunn said, plug and play. Take bumper off, unbolt three bolts, unplug, plug in the new ones and replace bolts/bumper.

Done.

Oh and someone will also be along to tell you that legally you need self leveling and washers to pass and MOT.

Even though Renault themselves passed mine three times in three years with no issues.

since when do standard Xenon units from sports fail easily? :S

Straight forward swap if you can find the Xenon units complete from a binned sport. Shouldn't be a problem living so close to ClioSpares though.

my xenon ballasts have failed twice
one on each of my sports
currently repairing one today

It's a piece of piss, hardest part is taking the bumper off and even that's simple. Straight swap after that.

Sorry but that's wrong. They don't fail easily, if you're buying £20 xenon lamps then they're bound to fail.

It's an easy straight forward swap as said, I had them on my 1.2 for years and wouldn't go back.

Yeah I apprecaite what you're saying, but in my years on here and the years I've owned xenons I think that to state "They fail easily" is misleading.

As you say, in your experience they have failed, this doesn't make it the norm though ;)

It is a coincidence. Its not common at all and there's a lot of sport drivers on here.
£20 ebay xenon bulbs are cheap, regardless of who's name is printed on them.

well thers quie a few posts of faulty xenon ballasts
because of flickering lights an that
and i see them alot on other vehicles on ther forums too
maybe it isnt common on the majority
but there are still few people with faults on these
i personally blame the snow an water somehow working its way in lol :p
