Right.... Do I keep the metal end cap that came on the coilovers [see above pics]

The 2 x nuts that came with the Coilovers - do I keep them or throw them?

What parts do I use from the suspension im taking off???---- this right?:-

Its all a bit confusing - my VX was so much easier!

The rear? - do I loosen the bolt that holds the damper on when the car in grounded.... jack the car up and take wheel off - take damper out - put a bar in the hole and push the suspension down until I can get the spring out???

Thanks

Chris

On the front struts you will retain the cap which sits on the top of the spring that has the _/ \_ profile. Then the rest you will use from the original strut assembly in the same order as it comes off the OE kit. Don't use any nuts that may be on the coilover they're normally only on their to hold the assembly together during transport.

The rear i normally do one side at a time, undo one damper (doesnt really make any difference if its the lower bolt or upper nut), raise the car up pull the spring out replace the lower spring pad with the adjustor platform and refit the new spring then refit the new damper.

Thanks.

So - the gold coloured 'end caps' that are currently on my coilovers [see first pics] - I keep. Then just fit all the OE stuff ontop of that - and use the OE bolt on top to fix???

:)

yup, after the "end cap" you'll have the strut top bearing then the lower rubber mount, then a brass spacer (which will sit through the centre of the rubber (make sure you put it in the right way round))then a nut which will hold it all together then the whole lot goes up into the strut housing/inner wing and the top mount which has a captive nut in it tightens down and holds the lot into the body. It's a few months since i had mine apart so i think thats the order but as long as you take it off of the OE strut and put it all onto the coilover in the same order you're doing it right.

So - as long as I swap the setup over exactly from the OE strut I should be OK? Sounds good!

Thanks Loony for the help :)

No problem fella. Tbh the only mistake people tend to make fitting them is using the large nylock nut that come on the strut assembly instead of or as well as the tiny (you'll know which one i mean when you get it apart) nut that holds the OE kit together.

So in total .... there are 2 x nuts per strut? 1 x to hold the strut together and 1 x to attach strut to the car?

Thanks

Chris

Yup basically.

It's not showing on freds pic but the top half of the rubber mount/nut which is what you see when you open the bonnet of the car is one and the skinny one that holds the strut assembly together.

Im confused again! Loony is saying keep my 'top hat on' the gold end cap in my top pic, but Fred is saying bin it and put the OE top spring cap on instead!

I must be thick as **** today! lol¬
