  Hi comp phase 1
Nice!... The Clios going to handle now...should go really well with the diff.

I'm in the same boat with cam belt change..I've got my cams already but some people are getting good results from the groupe n 197 cam..they are cheap too. In my mind I'd always think I could've had more from a catcam cam. Sorry for not helping.

Who's doing your corner weighing?

I still think Cat cams 421/438 would be better, but for the money grp N timing and 197 cams seem to be getting great results!

Stuart @ Performance car specialist in Popham are fitting the coilovers/ corner weighing mate.

Update:

The 172 passed its MoT a couple of weeks back, and is now running BC DR racing coilovers 8kg/ 8kg. Today I lowered the fronts a little bit more. A couple of pictures..

Last Sunday after a spirited drive I noticed the temp guage go well over the half way mark, and the fan didnt kick in. After checking all the plugs, and relays I still had no luck. So purchased a new fan from Renparts, I fitted this still no joy :(

Then I remembered last summer as I was cleaning up the engine bay - a bolt, connecting an earth, snapped as I was cleaning behind the pass headlight. I unplugged the coolant temp sensor and touched the earth against the old bolt, and the fan fired up into life!

As I changed the radiator fan over I thought I would secure them with some proper fan clips, as previously the fan was attached with zip ties.

I also have some 197 cams/ ARPs waiting to be fitted. Seen quite a few people get great results with 197 cams/ group N timing.

197 cams get times to 8 degrees advanced on the inlet, exhaust stays standard.

This is not grp n timing.

Just so you make sure they're timed right [emoji16]

Update:

I haven’t done much to the Clio over the winter, it’s just been sat in the garage waiting for the weather to improve.

I picked up my Carbon- Tec footplates big thanks to @John Lindsay for organsing the GB on them. Really impressed with the quality/ finish, and am looking forward to fitting them in the coming weeks.

A while back I changed my badges for some 1.2 that I had lying around, as my originals were a right mess, but may well buy a brand new set of 2.0 badges again in the summer.

And a picture from the last time I drove the 172, in Feb.

As I said in a previous post I have a set of 197 cams to fit (cambelt is due in sep) but am now thinking of going down the cat- cam 421/438 route instead, as these would suit ITB’s better in the future.

Really liking that @John Lindsay the cage, seat, foot rests etc looks great mate.

I am just waiting for my spot weld removal kit to arrive, so I can remove the rest of the spot welds on that annoying plate in the drivers footwell, and finally bin it.

They might be all that’s holding your car together the number of times it’s seen a disc cutter and dremel :tonguewink:😂

Update:

The 172 has just had it’s mot (it passed) it’s running well, but is now overdue a cambelt, so I will get that booked up asap. I really must book up some trackdays for next spring summer 19, as I’ve only done a couple of laps of goodwood with my LSD/ BC DR coilover set up. Pic from this morning, she’s just about to tick over 160k too.

Awseome work as usual fletch.
How are you finding the 197 cams? Mine is due a cam belt soon and i'm tempted to try and get some.

Cheers Iain!

I’ve only gone on one ‘proper drive’ on my favourite roads so far (looking forward to getting it out on track) but very impressed. The added torque is really improved the drivability, I am not sure how much is from the 197 cams, or Chris@EFI mapping though. With the 197 cams and EFI live mapping I gained just under 15bhp, so if you’re due a cambelt change it’s a no brainer imo mate.

Passed it’s mot with no advisories, I also had a new Pure motorsport sports cat and rear NSR abs sensor replaced, and some new headlight adjusters all fitted at Rentech.

This also marks 15 years of ownership.

The Clio only did 424 miles last year (most of which was a trip to EFI parts for mapping) so hopefully it’ll get a lot more use, and some track time next year.

Just renewed my membership to get some inspiration to look at mine for the first time in years and makes me happy you still have this fletch! 😁 I'm on 11 years for mine and have thought many times about selling but always talked myself out of it eventually.

You'll have to put some miles on it by bringing it to SRR for a health check!
Yes Mark, although I may run the M2 instead.
Don’t sell, I think you’ll regret it. I don’t even know how you could after 15 years, must be like a member of the family.
Yes James, I think I just had a wobble. I doubt I'll ever sell it tbh.

Hi mate, I hope you're well?
