for anyone thinking of buying a new rs in next while...

in october prices going up by 3%...

tax rising at end of year to 17.5% or if rumours true 20% so this will be a further increase on car value by 2.5 - 5%

next april the new car tax kicks in meaning for a clio £425

cant see renault absorbing all of these costs but this cost easily add say £1k at least to prices

just a sort of pointless thread i guess!

  Cayman S Edition 1
Where did you get the £425 from?

My Trophy is going up from £215 to £235 and my wife's Megane 225 goes up to £245

For a moment I s*** myself

  GW RS200
I can't see how you got that figure from the chart?! From what I understand the car currently sits in band F?

  GTD, Lupo
Renault paid for my first year so think they might countinue to do so to save loosing sales.

W reg Ph1 ftw on the tax front.

+1

Its still not cheap though. £190 a year. That would get over 5 years tax in my Gf's Mums Dci 80 :dapprove:

Car tax is a farce, is anybody actually bothered about emmisions, should be taxed on vehicle weight to show how much wear and tear on the road it is actually using.

Not sure what any of that means but i think car tax should be scrapped and added to petrol, if you use the roads more and knacker them more then you should pay more, simple!

Or based on the size of the vehicle. Its common sense that bigger vehicles like trucks and lorries are doing more damage to road surfaces for example based on chassis size.

  Focus RS mk1
should be done on mileage tbh, if i do 8000 miles a yr and someone does 40000 miles per yr where is the justice in that i have too pay the same as him when im pumping out less emissions and using the road less. road tax is the biggest joke going

they've been doing that for years. Trouble is they never reduced car tax to go along with it, just bump up fuel.

Are we still on about 80% of fuel cost being tax?
