I think both of those wheels look great. I'd be happy with either. Are they flow formed or Forged? Nothing wrong with flow formed at the right price.

The Braids are what they call “Flowcast” but having spoken to them they’re just low press cast and heat treated. Braid UK say the flowformed wheels are only the larger sized rims. The EVO Corse I believe are similar but use A356-T6 alloy.
Both are European manufactured and said to be exceptionally strong. This obviously at the expense of some weight over some of the other offerings I’ve been looking at, the X3MA being marginally lighter of the 2 and one of, if not the lightest non forged tarmac rally rim I can find. However, both are approx 3kg lighter than the 2118 I currently run.

The X3MA being used as a Tarmac rally wheel and the Fullrace C said to be used for circuit and hillclimb only. Braid themselves recommend a heavier Maxlight (7kg) for road use over the Fullrace C. Both are very competitively priced with the Braid at £168 and EVO at £187 per rim, I dare say further deals can be had.

I’ve spoken to both company’s at length Including some others and all suggest that running much lighter shouldn’t be used on the road. I’ve even spoken to the company that Forged the wheels for Desmond when the Regamaster was produced. They will make me a forged version similar to a 2118 but they say they will be 6.5kg just obviously significantly stronger structure, so even they won’t make me a lighter rim. They’re pretty good value at circa £1700 but at the same price I can have a few sets of a cast rim “if” I should ever bend one.
In addition to that, should I ever sell them, it’s much easier to sell a set of £700 rims than £1700 rims to your average Clio owner.

I’ll be honest and say theyre both considerably heavier than I’d ideally like, but I’m having to compromise weight, for strength and aesthetics. As much as I want a super light rim, I can’t bring myself to fit a wheel to the car I don’t like the look of. Even the beautiful JDM wheels so many of which I really like I just don’t think will look right on the car.

Answers on a postcard. 😅

You have certainly done your research in the wheel options. How about Titan7 who make forged wheels Stateside. Stumbled across this:

Funny you say that, i looked at some of the Titan offerings a few weeks ago and again, nothing there i thought would really suit the car and big money by time i get them landed here in good old Blighty.
I have to say my favourite of the silly expensive stuff are some custom forged billet wheels by Forrtune in Russia called the R8. They mimick one of my all time favourite rims, the Compomotive TH2. TH2s are around 9kg, these are 6.5kg,

It took a hell of alot of resolve to not buy a set of these, the £1700 price tag helped along with the thougth of cleaning them. :D

They do look the goods!
Agree on the Titan7's they would be very expensive landed. I'd imagine they would be a custom job too.

They all are.
It seems there arent that many luntics looking to spend that much on a set of 15" Clio wheels.

I cant imagine for the life of me that im the only one :D

Is the only reason you're looking to move away from the 2118s because of the weight or are you just fancying a change? Might be worth trying some cheaper 15s first just to see if you notice a difference!
Not really noticed the weight of the 2118s but dont know any different. Keep meaning to try the oz f1s in the garage but they need refurbing first!

Those wheels are lovely

Exactly that, you dont notice because youre just used to it. Nothing bad in that, you just have nothing to compare it to.
Weight is my only reason. By that i should be buying some cheap, readily available Ultraleggeras at 5kg and be done with it, but theyre ugly imo. Likewise i could have gone for the Enkei RPF1 but i still dont think they suit the car. The 2118s look fantastic, just dont feel fantastic.

I dropped 2kg off my wheels on my impreza moving from 9kg Speedline to a 7kg Volk and the difference was profound.
Steering, acceleration, breaking, everything felt better, keener and more responsive. You really can feel the difference, its not placebo.

Just had a look at the X3MA in 15x7 +38 and they look superb, I'm struggling to pic a colour out of the options, white, gold, silver or anthracite, just not the black.

Good choice!

I've lost track of weights now, how much do these weigh compared to the OZ's?

They look 👌

same weight as a TD1.2 15x7?
Pretty much, its all offset dependant and the manufacturers claim weight on their highest offset with least material. But yeah i guess as near as dammit the same as a Pro Race 1.2. (200g ish)

Ive added them to the table i had so people can see if they wish :)

Still 1.5kg off the Ultraleggera!

Still 2kg off the Enkei which bothers me more! The UL is the easy choice, cheap, easily available, easy to replace, light.
Just think they dont look fantastic and positively would look bloody awful on my car.:sick::sick:

Still ones a circuit rim, ones a tarmac rally rim. Paid for em now.

I agree they don't suit the colour well. Do look good on black gold though.

I'm contemplating getting the ultras for the Petrol Blue, but I'll use them for track work so the lighter the better, not fussed about the looks then as they'll be covered in brake dust anyway!

If you want a track only rim and you dont care for the aesthetics, you wont get a better bang for buck than the UL.

Made the right choice on the evo corse, noticed that hey only had 4x of the anthracite left in stock.

Do what phil at dritworks did and then still not be happy 🤣 I knew immediately that the fronts weren't right though, you cant have that big of a difference, because the rears are f**king huge
