Happened to click on your first post by mistake and saw the 'get a cuppa' subject, did just that.

Had a read and been hooked on this since... A very good read indeed. Although it was the worst possible start, pleased to see you are rescuing it and taken the approach of being in too deep to get out.

Subscribed to this thread, keep up the great work. Drop me a pm when it comes to insuring it and will sort it out for you :)

To be honest to add to my previous comment, this car couldn't have gone to a better person with the work you're doing it. Really commendable.

You should Print all the new photos off and send it to the guy who sold it to you. As an UP YOURS type thing

Nice work mate!

Without trawling through the initial purchase thread.. did you ever get hold of 'Steve' to call him a bellshine?

Cheers lads. Xxx : )

I did get hold of steve but he kinda hung up on me when i told him about the car being linked to a burglary .
Ive took out the front seats today to take out all the carpet and clean. Full of dog hairs. Plus gonna run a power lead to the battery anyway which im putting inthe boot bit whilst im in there out comes everything.

Thinking about stripping it all out ???????? To make her lighter but everything seems very light anyway. Ill c how it goes.

I'd just change the seats for some buckets, the standard cup ones are terrible looking.

totally agree. But with a wee one on the way i dont think it will look.good if i spunk 300-500 notes o a pair of seats. Lol

It really does look good, can't wait to see it in the flesh. I have to agree on seats, I've got fiberglass buckets and harnesses, and I have never wished to just be able to get in, belt up and go. It really makes it a pleasure to drive, along with a smaller steering wheel.

So, after you have finished with this one... you wanna do the same with my flamer for me ;)

In all seriousness, very tempted to do the same this weekend and give it a good ol' clean from underneath.

Long winded job or was it quite straight forward?

Might sound like an odd question.. When you removed the rear bench, how did you get the seat backs out of the but they attach to by the wheel arches? I have mine a good pull but couldn't get them out!

Love your project, inspiring stuff. Would love to have a second car so I don't have to rely on mine to be road worthy and I could learn enough to do this!

cheers matey, if you fold the rear bench forward u can see a torx head that holds the middle of the bench down, it was very very tight and I snapped my socket trying to take it out, ended up cutting the head off in the end, the end of the benchs just push them back and they will come out of there brackets

Word of warning , after sitting the engine in, I noticed that I had put the water pump pulley the wrong way round !!!

Lucky the engine wasn't properly bolted down as its quite a awkward job

Won't that filter be over where the ecu fits?

look at gearbox engine mount bracket ;)

Nothing will ever be sitting on that ever again, ive moved the ECU, fuse box and battery, loads of room now for lots of air

  206,172 Cup,focus,X5
Well I just want to pat my self on the back and tell everyone she started first time and runs sweet as a nut :star:

Also With the new de-phaser pulley on she no longer sounds like a diesel :rasp:

Nice one mucka :)

Where you moved the Ecu and fuse box too? Got any pics etc? You had to extend wires etc?

Great read Reedy, sounds like a very neglected car has gone to a very good owner.

Always good to read these turnaround threads. Well done on the work, keep it up!

Ive been busy over the last couple of days and im really pleased with the results

I "HAD" to order a new rad as mine was looking a bit sorry for its self and would let the standered drop if I kept it in there , so new rad was ordered and the fan and housing cleaned up with great looking results IMO
