front pads

Changed my front pads the other day and there was a type of shim/spacer behind each pad,they were not oe pads,and the oe pads I brought from Renault did not come with these.I have refitted these shims/spacers with the OE pads with no problems,will be upgrading to some ds2500 or alike soon.Should these shims be there or are they something that comes with some pattern pads.

They are there as standard to prevent them squealing.
