GDI Clio 172 (ITB'd) VS Subaru Impreza vid

uk scoob? jap scoob? lol

what power does it have? impressive if the scoob is 300+bhp not so impressive if its a uk 208bhp car with an exhaust and air filter lol

Not sure. I'd imagine so.

What i can't understand and you've hit the nail on the head Mark, is why spend so much money on the car than sell straight away! Are they undrivable? i can think of a number of members who have owned mod'd cars like this and sold nearly straight away? Curious!?

it runs and drives like a normal Clio, it used less than half a tank on the way back from Cambridge to south Manchester, I've had no problems at all with it apart from a PAS leak... not engine related and compression is nearly same as a new 172.

Ali, would gladly have a do, as my Williams would eat the majority of tuned 172's/182's, this would have no problem lol

nice... It's one quick motor jesus :D

I tried to find you data of the car, but couldn't find it. How much hp and what are your mods?
And how much hp for Subaru? I can't believe there is a Prodrive chip in it. It's a very slow Sub

I have an enormous experience with Subaru tuning. This one does not have an impressive gain in hp. Is way too slow

lol, to be expected, well, this weekend I'll show you my car pull away from an E46 M3, how about that?

It will no doubt be the same dull conversations, about how the M3 driver was not trying, and that it must have been a 320i......sad really!

What Mpg you see from that pal??

car looks awesome mate, can appreciate all the work thats gone into it!

looks to be incredibly fast!i hope your using v-power?! :p

Nice car. What BHP have you actually got?

Have you both had your cars dynod?

My last car was a tuned UK impreza and I could easily pass a 240bhp Civic type-r so Im guessing your clio must have at least 270bhp then. If not it looks like your mates impreza is a uk turbo putting out 220bhp.

Tell your mate to get a Full decat and a remap for about £1000 and try the run again;)

christ jesus, thats a motor and a half, liking the use of the tunnels as well, although be careful, coppers are starting to hang around the turn off to ashley road just after them now.

where abouts you from? alderley edge myself, would like to see the beast in action.

Interesting comments by the GDI doubters.

Jealousy is a terrible thing, probably one of the quickest clio's on the forum. Looks great Jon...would love to see a vid of it against a M3.

nice one daisy.

carnt believe you didnt get 2lives williams on that footage - was it too far infront ???

;)

How about you race fred in the yozzacup?

If you win, then GDI may finally get themselves out of the red…

it will be quicker than my car, it's had more money put into it and has a steel bottom end...

I'll have a do in the new year when I'm running a 2.2 litre bottom end with forged pistons, steel crank etc etc, I'd be confident then.

Dubai182 - should be in the next couple of weekend, just had a PAS leak, so I've got a nice custom braided stainless steel high pressure line that I had made to remedy that, then it's on like donkey kong! I've had a do against one already and there was nothing in it from 30-140... he may have been toying with me, but power to weight is almost identical, so will be interesting, and it's been mapped since then by Andy and it's running sweet.

Jace - not had it RR'd yet, but it was 218bhp on 98ron fuel, it's not noticably much quicker and the torque comes in more agressive now and it's mapped for 99ron, so would guess at around 225bhp and 190+lbs/ft... Impreza's are not that quick either, his last one was 260bhp and my cammed williams would pull 3 cars rolling from 20mph to 150mph. I know what these cars can do, I have a fair few mates with them, from classics to the newer shaped ones. He even got a head start on the tunnel run. The full unedited version is more amusing due to the excuses that are made lol

Combine - i'm down the road in Cheadle Hulme mate, we'll have to meet up, I'll be free for about an hour on Saturday and most day Sunday if you fancy a butchers and a blast in it?

I would say around 215bhp based on the mods (luckys had the same setup with a 182 manifold and had 222bhp) in a car that weighs around a ton so say 215bhp/ton for arguments sake.

Whats a scooby weigh? 1300kg? plus 4 wheel drive transmission loss so say the scooby would need 280bhp+ to stay with him. In the video the clio slaughters the Scooby so the Scooby must be running low 200bhp.

I would say based on the spec it would be as quick as an M3 but wouldnt go away from it like it did against the scooby.

On the GDI front a company makes its name based on how the customers perceive it. Just as a note ChrisK sold this quickly after spending thousands on the engine and then I think someone else owned it for a few months before Jesus bought it.

nah Mark, tha skooby az got 4WD innit, u iznt beetin' wun ov dem bruv :rasp:

Thanks Jon_r too, can we have a blanket ban on Scots posting in this thread please, sick of reading the same old shite from people that don't know their arse from their elbow :nono:

don't worry, it's jealousy, as most of the negative comments are coming from people with cars tuned by other companies or bandwagon jumpers... CS is full of them, it's a haven for petty jealousy lol.

more vids to come anyway, I have an E46 M3 lined up for a blast, my cousin's Porsche, few other mates with various Scoobs and another mates 260bhp Ibizia Cupra... but may not bother with posting half of these, as you get the usual noobs saying "scooby must only be 10bhp". the M3 and Porsche will shut people up though, Andy knows his s**t and is good at what he does, the proof is in the pudding as they say.

f**king quick tho :D

4wd drive wont help from a rolling start. Transmission loss and extra weight will work against it.

oh yeah I missed a bit

da t Jesus has da baddest ass dam clio on dis site and best no scooby or M3 BM take a pop at my ride innit bruv and so on and so forth........

Limiter is there to stop it going bang, but it still accelerates on it as the needle is still moving lol (in any case I'm not arsed about the bottome end, I'm getting a rebuild in the new year).

No floodie, airport tunnels near me, it's deafening going through them!

whats the point in rebuilding the bottom end?

I'm not rebuilding it to a standard BE  I understand you are anti GDI for some reason, but I'm good friends with Ben, Andy and Yoz, all of whom are the biggest tuners on here yet seem to get others respective customers taking pot shots and having sly digs at each other... pretty pathetic really. I've used Ben and Andy before and would recommend both, but it just reflects badly when I know that if I had built the car and not a tuner you'd all be impressed instead of looking for faults. I'm sorry it's not blown up so you can start flaming GDI, but this car has been reliable for the past owners despite what some idiotic members have posted, thinking they are putting 2 and 2 together. This is not the case, it's been fine for Chris, Mehdi and myself, it had a fault with the map, which was not the same map Andy put on (I know this as I have seen it), yet it still drove okay. Now it's noticably faster and returns MPG you'd get from a standard 172.

Dubai, it's working okay for me? I can send it over on MSN later when I get home if you like pal?

Does anyone have Adobe Premier too, as the original file I recorded was over 3GB's for 15 mins and it looses quality to a stupid degree in movie maker.

Good Skills! :)

HOw much does it weigh mate? I'd love to know how my sx would fair against it. I reckon i could "ave ya" ! lol. Chris could probably confirm yay or nay....

I had a blast against a 255bhp fiesta rst which weigh 900kg's and pulled about 6/8 car legnths to *20

Obviously. But what are you doing and what are you hoping to acheive.

The normal reason would be to lighten and strengthen so you can rev higher. But whats the point if your cams peak power is around 6500rpm.

I spoke to BenR about doing this and he said it would be a waste of cash unless your spending thousands building a proper race engine which would not make a good road car due to low torque and all the power up the rev range.

IMO get a 182 manifold for it.
