So while driving to work this morning my gear linkage decided to fall apart (not my rant as its all sorted now) so i proceeded to ring my dad and get him to give me a tow home, screwed the towing eye in and hooked up the towing bar, no problems.

Everything fine until we got just round the corner from my house, the towing eye then decided to rip the threads out the mount for it and smack into my bumper (cracked it).

Finished work and went to look at the mount for it, It might aswell be made of cheese, it just bent with the force of the towing eye pulling out of it.

rant over.

strange, mine got pulled for over 5 miles once, no problems

The towing mounts are fine sounds like you didn't use it with enough care.

You could lift the car almost on the mount if done sorrectly.

my dads towed enough cars in his time to know how to tow properly. The mount is dead thin.
