H & R's on 182 Cup???

  Monaro VXR/Cupra TDi
After the cams, inlets and re-map next week suspension will be next months mod.

From the praising reports on here about H & R coilovers I think I may follow suit and buy them for my car.

Question is, will I notice a difference over my Cup suspension? If so what sort of increase will I receive with this upgrade?

Noticed the rear end can lose grip when on the limit. When applying more lock under throttle, depending on the tightness of the corners angle, rear gives way after understeer.

Will a more neutral balance be present after the addition of the H & R's and help stop oversteer?

Thanks.:)

you'll notice a big difference mate.. big difference.. i lowered my 182 cup quite a bit on them, and even before getting them properly set up, there was less body roll

Cheers Justin, that's just the sort of thing I like to hear about future mods!:)

I can't lower the car more than 20-25 mm due to my wheels having an e.t of 38. Is this enough to get the full benefit of the H & R's ?

Aye yeah i would think so, as long as you get them set up correctly, camber etc..

think mine were down about 70mm lol..

70 mm, that's quite a large drop! At least even with a 25 mm drop I should see some improvement, less roll etc.

Much more stable cornering? Increased grip level, balance?

Who did you use to fit and adjust?

my old one.. not the lowest, but was low enough.. had a lot more confidence in the corners, just felt 'better'... hard to explain

I fitted them myself, just lined up both the fronts with each other and set to the same height.. then about 2 weeks later i sold the car..

boy that bought it got them set up when he bought it

Racing Blue, fine choice of colour, mine being the same.:)

The kit automatically lowers the rear by 20mm and the front by 30mm? If one wishes to go further you can.

The kit is definately lower anyways, but has a fair bit of thread left if you want to screw it down further... Was very impressed with mine.

Don't mind the ride being harsh in the name of better performance.

Anyone lowered their cars on aftermarket wheels with an e.t of 38?

Ride isnt harsh at all, I'd actually say it rides better on poor surfaces than the cup suspension. The only time it feels firmer as such is if you clip a pothole.

arrrgh .. trying to find a pic of your car with the ET 38 wheels and bit of lowering ! ;)
did you manage ?

You did the same as what i'm about to do ; your original ET was 45, you went to 38 so 7mm more out. The wheels i'm after are ET 30 or 32 (could'nt quite measure correctly) , my cup turinis are 38,5 so basically the new wheels are also, like yours, being brought out another 7mm !

i should be okay !?

I had apex springs before and the improvment is a million times better. Deffently get them mate. Go for AST's if you can as i hear they are even better. but i love my H&R's
Turn in is much sharper
Less body role
First pic is with the rear platform removed second one is with it in
