Elise , nice to have for a bit but you soon realise they are compromised , exige S nice ,good track car but then for the money a caterham is much better , M3 ..unless its the new V8 they are ok but nothing great really , RS4 nice noise but a heavy barge that can be a handful , 911 ....no such thing as a cheap one , FPR ..... err ok limited edition but its only a 150bhp puma with a bodykit really ??? .
You see it all depends what you have had are used to ,and what you want them for ..... if i wanted a car to surprise thats great value for money then i would suggest a VX220 turbo , fantastic value for what it is .
but then we are lucky enough to have lived with all of the above so have had and moved on ....
in an idea world , for track it would be a caterham , you'll never beat the smiles per pound and cheap ontrack running costs for the performance , for the road a V8 vantage and keep a 172 cup for running about in ....
as for buying a trophy over a 172 cup , i can see the appeal , buy what you want , not what everyone else thinks you should , as the only person who knows is you ........ i had years of people saying the elise was the best thing since sliced bread and a true supercar , its not , its a compromised poorly built light sports car with a metro engine in (before looking at the later yota powered cars ) .... everyone has a different view and they are rarely unbiased .....
but hey i like big diesel cars ,and for getting from a to b nothing beats something like an e320 merc with the best auto box in the world ..............
