As has been said already...it totally depends on the person carrying out the install and the mapping, as to the quality and use-ability/performance of the finnished product.
My T.B'd F7R returns nearly 40mpg on a run, cruising between 75-80mph in fifth. Even driving round town its not really any worse than std. Its only when giving it full beans for any length of time that it drops to very low!!
All because of the way i tweaked the mapping.....
As for idle/driveability....my cams are 280deg and even tho the power is quite high up with them, they are ok driving round town. and idle is better then standard...again down to decent mapping. Also if you find its too "peaky" for you, theres no reason why you cant back the cam timing off abit (reduce lift at tdc typically) to gain some low-down. againg, its down to the ability of you tuner...
