Help needed!! Edde, yoz etc...

  BMW 330d :)
Just got my car back from the garage after they installed a new engine and something else has now happened!!

Went round a left hand corner, pushed the accelerator slightly (not hard as Im still running the engine in) and heard a massive BANG! from the front nearside, steering wheel jump and this pipe hanging down when I pull over....

Any idea what this pipe is and what might have happened to my car??

Seems to be driving okay at the moment...

thought it might be a driveshaft but the bang may have had something to do with this pipe??!!

Any experts got any ideas??

Cheers

that looks more like a gaitor than a pipe, maybe a cable housing or something? headlight adjusters or something simple like that?

looks like the vent out of the battery? nothing to worry of, that wont have made a bang? you have another fault!

its a drain of some decription, from the scuttle/battery area? i saw mine the other day lol, just left in in the arch liner. It won't have been that making the bang.

I had this hanging when I removed my Bumper (Passenger side)

No issues here though

why don't you take the car back and explain what happened, before any further damage can be caused.

it might of just been a spanner/ratchet left under the bonnet, then whacked the underside of the car when it fell from wherever it was.

can't be sure though, take it back.

Its the breather / drain for the battery nowt to worry about, looks snapped off, have you had a battery replaced or removed? Is there one end plugged into the side of your battery?

They aren't essential some people take them off completely they just get in the way. When they've swapped your engine, took the battery out and not put it back as it was - the pipe that is.

yeah, you said it is running and driving fine, so most probably likely to be this.

if something was to go bang with the engine or suspension etc, you'd feel it straight away.

best to get someone to have a quick looksy though.

are you sure somebody didn't stick a banana up your exhaust (the cars exhaust!) :)

that tube is overflow for the battery... if you have a stock battery there is a little spout it will attach to... the noise is unrelated..

You ran over a rabbit that ran out quick, but the bonnet/wing hid it so you never saw it, then it ran off the other side before u looked to see what the f**k it was.
