Help please newbie here!

Hi all, totally new to this so hope I'm posting in correct way :/

Anyway looking for some help, recently bought a 2007 Clio Dynamique S 2.0 138bhp, it's got bad misfire issues, taken it to be plugged in and indeed it shows cylinder 2 misfire, garage suggested starting with coil pack, however they called me and said they can't get hold of one for that car from anywhere?! Does this sound right - can someone point me in the right direction please? Thanks 😊

Well that's what I thought, based in Hampshire, I've actually taken it to two garages, one of which claims to be a renault specialist but can't get the coil pack? Was a bit baffling to me but I'm no expert so took it as legit. He said to 'start' with changing the coil pack and see if that sorts it, but to me surely there must be someone who can work out if that actually needs changing?!

+1. Find a decent garage or better still a Renault specialist.

Thanks! With risk of sounding an idiot, does it need 4 coils or just the one that's dodgy?

If it was a coil pack causing misfire on cylinder 2, then yes, it would just need one.

Take it somewhere else. It’s not hard to diagnose a bad coil pack and as said by @TheEvilGiraffe, you don’t want to just be throwing parts at it until it works because there’s a big chance it will be something minor and shouldn’t cost a lot.
