Help required - replacing alternator belt on the misses 1.6 8v RXE (1998)

Car died the other day with the misses driving back from work, electrics died, battery light on - jumped it got it going, then died again.

looking at it today in the light - the alternator belt has snapped.

Brought a new one (3 ribs), cannot get it to fit! Help needed!

Got it on the top and bottom pulley's, but cannot get it down under the tensioner wheel.

Un-done adjuster bolt above tensioner wheel, but still unable to get wheel high enough to get belt under it!

Can anybody help

cheers

New battery fitted as well, cause the otherone was fooked!

There a few different types of belts on that engine there usualy two belt one powers just the alternator then the one behind this completly seperate powers the PAS pump and air con.

Are you sure yove got the right belt?

Yes its the Fan/Alternator belt (found the old one snapped and wedged in the front bumper), don't seem to be able to get the belt under the tension wheel and on the alternator wheel (not for the want of trying & no leverage in small area) all other belts on fine.

any help mate is very appreciated

fixed - removed the drivers headlight and front grill for better access, removed the tensioner wheel with an allen key, abit of WD40 as it was stuck, tensioner wheel came free with a little help of a large screwdriver from the bottom - all put back together Bob's your Uncle
