Help, what has happened to my PC

I was on the PC yesterday, just doing the usual thing (no not that)
When the computer just reset and the screen went crazy

Now it will only load in safe mode and I can't see a thing.

I done a search and updated drivers, restored to last point and given the inside a good clean but nothing.

Any ideas?

Graphics card or motherboard looks gubbed.

If it was operating normally with the lines, I'd say graphics card, but the fact it now won't go beyond safe mode, I'm not sure.

Graphics card would still be first port of call for me though, then look at motherboard

Is it fixable without replacing hardware?

I doubt it, you could TRY a re-install but it looks like GFX card to me.

Locate and open the .dmp file here: C:\WINDOWS\Minidump\Mini082611-08.dmp you may need to tell it to show hidden files, and possibly download a .dmp reader. Should have some more info in there as to what is causing the crash

Looks like the GPU is knackered pal. I know this is a common problem in in the DV series of HP laptops and the symptoms are the exact same as yours...sorry
