I actually think the hammer was to hit me with if I kept taking photos. Other than that, I also have no idea why it was there. They had done the service before the belt........ maybe something was stuck? I dunno.
In any event, the car has been fine since then, with no evidence of the timing being out (idles fine, runs clean up to the redline, still very fast). However, to satisfy the moaners on here, I am considering buying a pair of cam end covers and having the old ones out to check the timing.
Thinking on, could the hamemr be there to knock the new cam end covers back in place??
