HID Kit for my 197.

Car  ST
As i've recently changed from a 182 with Xenons to an R27 with standard headlighs i'm really missing the quality of Xenons lamps.

I've really no idea on where to start on this, in terms of where to buy, how difficult they are to fit etc?

Is the 197 H7 fitment??

If anyone could give me a hand or a point in the right direction on any of the above that'd be great!!

Cheers,

Alan.

your gonna have to buy a generic kit. you can get them off ebay for around £80 but the problem you can get is that the bulbs are completely random and sourcing replacements can mean having to buy a new kit.

if i ever went for HIDS in my car i'd pay the extra for something like the phillips kit just so you know what your getting.

Middo,

A mate put me onto this website: http://www.hids4u.co.uk/products.asp?cat=1

I'm going to spend the extra and get a proper kit with a warranty etc.

He said all you have to do to change them over is, unplug the connector to the bulb, take out the old bulb, put in the new HID bulb, plug in the ballast, then connect the headlight wire from the car.

Could you not buy the headlights and kit from Renault? I know it'd probably cost an arm and a leg, but might be the best way come resale time...

or just do what people have done with the mk2 and get them off a crashed car, but good luck finding one

Vinny, i know you had an HID kit on your silver Clio, was it as easy as my mate said to fit them?

I've been down the crashed route, it'll take ages to source some and will probably cost about the same if not more.

The company above HID's 4 U stock all spare parts for the kits they supply so replacement bulbs aren't really a problem, its just the fitting that i'm interested in.

there not hard to fit but the lights in the new mk3's are impossible to get at and theres not much room in the bay

I've got small hands :o

No, really i'll have a good look around under the bonnet tonight when i get in from work...

One way or another i'm going to have Xenons again!! lol
