HOU - Rust in peace

Well, bought the CS famous 'HOU' and broke it for parts.

For a 'much loved' car I was shocked at the amount of bodges, mainly wiring (didnt see a single crimped/soldered join, all twisted and taped), wire holding the exhaust on, various mismatched bolts/nuts, many missing or rounded, also very rotten under the skirts and rear floor. It did feel freakishly fast though on its last drive, I kicked its head in around the local roads on a quiet Sunday morning.

Anyway, its going tomorrow to the great scrapyard in the sky. Its parts are mainly helping my black ph2 track car but mostly sold for parts and many gone to members of this forum.

Shout out to @dann2707 @Coops Turbo and @GrahamS for the help, advice and lending of tools etc.

Haha, it did cross my mind on the drive back that I should restore it, but the rot was terminal, skirts were hiding bad cancer.

Some of the bodges didnt work, lol, nothing documented on any of its old progress threads!

Fcukabout, it's gone downhill since I owned it.

Everything I did electrically was double crimped and taped. In fact I redid some stuff which wasn't up to my standards. There was no evidence of rust apart from inside the bootlid when I owned it too (and a couple of bits in the engine bay, nothing major). Definitely nothing coming through on the sills like that!

I kinda lost hope for HOU when it became another generic track car.

RIP old friend.

Looks good there, I think a lot of the bodges are recent, I know a few of the previous owners! But yeah in my opinion it was beyond saving.

It was quite sad to see the immaculate Ph2 interior taken out, and the holes drilled in the wings for those rubber band things, and so on.

  Whichever has fuel
I genuinely have a lump in my throat.
My first holiday with my now wife was in that car, back in about 2005!
It had 26,000 miles on it iirc.
I paid £5,500 for it from the Renault dealer where I worked. It was on the forecourt for £6999.

I remember seeing this in my local Tesco car park last year. It had already gone downhill with the rubber band things etc.

Yeah, full of tat and the bodywork was shocking, headlights aside.

Sad... but to be fair, unless someone pulled the skirts off they wouldn't of known really?

It's 17 years old now, so it's bound to have the usual going through puberty spots and hero scars

What it really needs is a good set of parents to give it the start it deserves in life

Unfortunately, this seems to have hit the crack pipe and failed miserably

Anyone taking him to rehab?

Do the right thing...

Day I picked it up @Daniel

Fitted some questionable wheels because they were dirt cheap and had good rubber

Took it all the way across France/Belgium with the Mrs, pic in champagne with the ph2 rear bumper and cup spoiler on

Feel a little sick seeing those photos 😧

Surely worth keeping or selling the front bumper / wings?

Guess this shows what these cars are worth right now.. real shame

Nope, bumper was cracked and only held on by the 'crappy JDM quickrelease cable tie crap' wings were damaged at the bottoms and cracked due poor jacking.

Its a shame but it was a complete nail imo. It had some nice parts but it was way past saving. No regrets at all from me'
