thought the idea of the trackers is so they know your cars been nicked before you do, seems silly having to phone them to get them to activate the thing!EVOgone said:Do you know me...how the f**k do you know all these details as i never posted that level of detail..!

jonnyboy said:Sorry what I meant was having the stickers as a deterrant makes actually having an alarm a waste of time. If somone sees a clifford sticker and still breaks into your car they would have broken in anyway. Sticker is 3 quid off ebay worth every penny!
GuyS said:does anyone know how much a tracker would reduce your insurance by?
g18llo said:Generally speaking, it doesn't. Many underwriters will only issue cover on certain vehicles under the premise one is fitted, so in that case it's mandatory, but very few, if any will give discount.
You do get discount for fitting one on a bike, which is almost pointless as it's far, far easier to remove it from a bike, and therefore less likely to deter the thief. In saying that, a 2005 R1 @ £9k is worth £18k in parts, so anything to lower the number of thefts is considered good.

GuyS said:yeah, but thats only on high value cars..
like some insurance will only cover bikes with datatagging etc..
thought it would reduce normal insurance premiums on cars though, like having a cat1 alarm and an immobiliser would normally knock a few hundred off wont it?? surely the tracker knocks the insurance down as its very likely that if the car is stolen it will be recovered?

A link to the original post for the passat immobiliser
Cant really say much else but there will be a discount for you guys obviously LOL
Also is this the type of thing you would buy ?
Carlos.Leeds said:It was the friend of the guy whos Evo that was nicked that posted on MIGWEB (www.migweb.co.uk) about a year and a half ago. Might be longer. He posted saying that an Evo had been stolen from a certain area and could people keep an eye out. He posted a pic of it so peope would know what it looked like. As you can imagine people posted asking how it was stolen and what time e.t.c so the guy posted the details just explaning how it was taken.
KDF said:Ye, was gonna say that.. a finger print can be forcibly removed from you... a code cannot.

The pictures that were originally there aren't there. Probably because the thread is so old they the links will be broke or something. But it showed a black evo parked up ouutside a house in a narrow street.

GuyS said:if it s astandard fit tracker, a theif would know where it is, rip it out and throw it out the window..
now if you put a tracker n a clio.. surely theres a 'common place' to fit it so they could check that place, rip it out and throw it out the window..
if you had a tracker would you actually put 'tracker' stickers on the window?
in one way it may deter people from attempting to steal it..
but then in the other way it would tell the theif.. ''ive got a tracker, so check the usual places and rip it out before you go anywhere'' and if the cars recovered anyway,, would you really want it after some cheesehammer chav scrote had been ragging it around
