How much is a willy engine worth

My mate knows someone that yesterday wrote his williams off, and is selling the engine. The car was damaged from behind so the engines fine plus its only done 30k miles!

At the moment i have a 1.4 and am 19 years old, 20 in december, so im not to sure about the insurence on a 2.0 beast. Even if i couldnt get insured til im 21 i really wouldnt mind as long as ive got the engine sitting in my garage.

My question is how much do u think this engine is worth and will it fit straight into my clio2 16v?

i paid £300 for the engine box and all ancilleries from a willy 3 in the exact same situation, the bloke paid £400 for the whole car, then just dropped the sub frame and cut the loom and rad hoses, left it in the garden for a few months after deciding he couldnt fit it into his £19, the sad thing is all the interior and stuff went to scrap!!!! he took the wheels off and sold them for £100!!!!!

i reckon if he played his cards right your mate could get up to a grand for eveything provided he can prove everything, but what i would do is just re-shell it inot a stolen recovered valver, IMHO its not right dropping an F7 engine in a MK2 clio, its not where it was meant to be,

It wont go straight in to a Mk2, a lot of messing about. Itll drop straight into a valver though, the classic engine swap there.

Put it up for between £500 and £1000 depending on full history and someone with a 16v will take it off you pretty quick. Not more than a grand, for that youd be selling the gearbox, ECU and ancillaries as well and no-one will pay that sort of money when you can pick up a Megane 2.0 lump for a lot less

If youre definitely buying it, give him £500, you need the starter motor and ECU as well though. PLus the gearbox would be handy.
