How To Change Brakes Over

im buyin new 16v calipers, grooved & drilled discs, braided hoses and pads for my RT and wanted to know how easy is it the change em over?

is it as simple as unbolt and stick the others striahgt back on or do i have to drain all the brakefluid out then do it?

Cheers for ne help!

dont have to drain all the brake fluid out, but whilst going about it if it hasnt been chaged for a while might be worth doing!

discs r held in with 2 hex screws, calipers are bolted on with 2 bolts, but make sure you get the bolts with the 16v brakes as they are a diff length to ur rt ones so need them. can just clamp the brake lines so fluid doesnt piss out, then once attached bleed the brakes, obviously topping up with brake fluid as will need to fill the calipers.

pads just slot in as on rt brakes, infact as far as i know the pads are the same for the rt and 16v! well there was only one code when buying mine in the local car spares shop!

hope it helps, not a hard job at all.

when u say bleed the brakes does it mean attach the hoses then aint there a screw which u turn and brake fluid comes pissin out?

should av this lot by friday so fingers crossed!

as in brake conversion? jus incase u mean the GTT one! hehe

should get the brakes friday sometime, should av em to show u at the xmas meal

when u bleed the brakes yes i do mean attach the hoses then undo the bleed nut. what u attach to it is i little tool for bleed brakes which is a small piece of rubber tubing with a bung in one end and a small slit in the tubing near the bottom. u attach this to the back of the bleeding nut and put the end with the slit until a jar wit brake fluid in, u then get someone to pump the brake pedal slowly until no more bubbles are coming out in the fluid in the jar and is just brake fluid running out.

there is an order in which u need to bleed the brakes, eg furthest away in pipe terms 1st then up to shortest. cant remember this order. sure it tell you how to do all this in the haynes manual.

If youre not confident..dont do it! If you dont do it properly youll end up dead when you try to apply the brakes..not worth the risk mate!
